Japanese Woodworking Tools | Nomi (Chisel)
One of the most iconic Japanese woodworking tools, the Nomi (chisel) is a prime example of Japan's expertise in metallurgy & masterful forging technique. Crafted with a very hard steel cutting edge and soft steel body, Japanese chisels retain a sharper edge than many western chisel counterparts, but remain easy to sharpen. It is recommended you sharpen Japanese chisels at low heat, using whetstones instead of (dry) grinding machinery.
