* All higonokami knives show some marks that have occurred during manufacture.
* Non stainless Japanese knives require a small amount of care to prevent surface rust. Even though this can easily be removed if it does occur, we recommend you hand wash and thoroughly dry after each use, do not use a dishwasher. For extended storage, coat in an oil like our Tsubaki.
Japanese Folding Knife | Nagao Higonokami
Higonokami are normally a small Japanese folding knife, this new design however is a fixed blade variant. There are other folding variations of this robust knife, varying from key-ring sized knives, right up to larger custom made and vintage collectible Damascus steel variants. The majority are made from high carbon steel able to hold a very sharp edge, and crafted with brass handles which will last a lifetime.
At one point in time, every school student of Japan carried these knives to sharpen their pencils. Today they are used as utility knives, in woodworking and even in the kitchen or for food on the run.
The brand Nagao is the last true Higonokami, crafted in Japan under Nagao San, the last remaining blacksmith of the guild permitted to make genuine Higonokami knives.
