Traditional Japanese Hammer | Square Gennou - Engraved Bronze 375g

Traditional Japanese Hammer | Bronze Square Gennou

Engraved Bronze Square Hammer in 375g

Japanese hammers (or Genno / Gennou) are an extremely well balanced tool made with a unique steel that helps to absorb some of the impact of a hammer strike. They are made to be used with Japanese chisels (Nomi) and Japanese woodworking planes (Kanna), along with performing precision hammering tasks like driving small nails in tight or awkward locations. As is the case with most traditional Japanese hammers, one side of the face is flat with the opposing side a slight convex to help perform different tasks more accurately.

Like all of our Square Gennou, these hammers are great for all chisel work, tuning kanna and accurate hammering in most situations, the 375g head being one of the best all-round sizes. Unlike any of our other hammers however, this special model is made of solid bronze and hand engraved, a work of art in all respects.
