Guitar Fret Installation (0.5mm & 0.023 Cut)...

Posted by hello@ ProTooling.com.au on

We are often asked if we have a Japanese hand saw capable of achieving an extremely accurate 0.5mm cut for the installation of frets into a guitar neck.

While we did have a few saws with this specification of kerf, we tested multiple units to see which performed best.

Long story short, our small Dozuki saw outperformed all others for this task, the MP150. We consistently measured 0.5mm when testing this saw, also being a "Dozuki" type pull saw (with a stiff, rigid spine), this model helped produce very straight cut lines.

Check it out here...

Note: We have had feedback from professional guitar makers that this saw will also work with 0.023 inch specification guitar frets. At just 82 microns difference it does make sense that this will work, but we have not yet verified this as true.
